The course is not too long, and is well adapted to the natural surroundings and terrain. It is a varied course, although the fact that it is located in the lowest part of a valley means it is not very undulating.
There is Mediterranean vegetation in abundance as well as thick woods, although they rarely come into play.
The greens are not too small and each hole is completely different. The difficulty of this course lies in having to avoid a natural precipice and several water hazards on some holes.

Salt Flats of La Mata and Torrevieja

Back in the fifteenth century, conditions in the neighbouring lake of Torrevieja were not as favourable for the harvesting of salt. The lake, which by then had been granted to the town of Orihuela, was converted into a fishery. This was achieved by constructing of a canal linking the lake to the sea.
This proved an expensive undertaking and storm damage in 1500 led to the canal being closed for nine years. Furthermore the high saline levels of Torrevieja lagoon was threatening animal life and the lower lying lake of La Mata. Both the salt lakes lie below sea level, and today are a natural park and a protected area for birds. The wetlands provide an important habitat for flamingos, hoopoes and storks.       

Lagebeschreibung TORREVIEJA:

Torrevieja liegt ca. 50km südlich von Alicante/Flughafen. Torrevieja liegt zwischen Lagunen in einer großen Ebene. Der heutige Ort ist um einen alten Turm herum gewachsen von daher auch der Name "Torrevieja", das "alter Turm" bedeutet. Zur Gemeinde gehören herrliche Strände, die in Kombination mit der traditionellen Fischerei und der Salzgewinnung zur Entwicklung des Tourismus beitragen. International bekannt ist Torrevieja wegen seiner Salzproduktion, einer der bedeutendsten in Europa. Die Besichtigung der Salinen ist ein Muß bei einem Besuch von Torrevieja. Zwei große Salzlagunen sind das Wahrzeichen dieses Fremdenverkehrsortes. Der Küstenstreifen beginnt im Norden mit dem beliebten "Mata"-Strand, mit feinem Sand. Die schönen Felsbuchten von "El Mojón" und "Las Zorras" sind besonders hervorzuheben. An den beliebten und lebhaften Stränden, "Los Locos" und "Del Cura", entlang führt eine schöne Strandpromenade.
